The Yeates Academy of Irish Dance and Molly Malone Irish Dancers is an established dance academy. Established in 1985, we are the longest running Irish dance school in Oregon. Instructor Sinead Yeates, and Studio Directors Molly Malone and Breda Yeates bring a wealth of knowledge in Irish Dance plus over 35 years of teaching and performance experience.


Our mission is to provide a fair, safe, and comfortable teaching environment for our students. Our goal is to provide a family-oriented environment where each student is encouraged to reach his or her potential by listening and accepting feedback from teachers. Our experienced teachers are committed to providing a quality dance education with a spirit of building self-esteem and self-confidence.


Our studio is equipped with a hardwood floor, full length mirrors, high ceilings, heat and air conditioning, and a surround-sound stereo system. Our studio waiting room area has a welcoming and friendly atmosphere and is fully equipped with comfortable seating, microwave, snacks, refrigerator and sink. Our friendly staff will assist you with any questions and needs you may have.


Sinead Yeates, TCRG is an Accredited Teacher of Irish Dance. Sinead is first-generation Irish and grew up in a family surrounded by Irish music and entertainment. She entered the world of Irish dance at age 7, performing along with her father, popular Irish musician, Peter Yeates. Over the years, Sinead danced at Irish festivals and local venues in the Midwest and Pacific Northwest. Sinead is an accomplished choreographer and instructor and has a knack for combining traditional moves with the more progressive choreography and Irish dance style of today. Prior to her accreditation, Sinead competed in all levels of Irish dancing, including solos and teams at World Championship level.


Molly Malone, a native of Portland has been step-dancing since age four. As a child, she competed in Irish step-dancing competitions throughout the United States and in 1976 won the Northwest Irish Dancing Championships in the under 14 category. She is a graduate of the University of Portland, and teaches elementary education at a local private school.

Breda Yeates was born and reared in Dublin, Ireland where she learned Irish dance as a child. She has a lifelong background in theatre, music, and dance. This training eventually led to a three-year dance engagement with Telefis Eireann (Irish Television) on the "Like Now" show. Breda immigrated to the United States in 1971 and has taught dance in Iowa, Minnesota and Vancouver, WA.
